

KARIMNAGAR, MARCH 18, 2025: On the eve of World Sparrow Day, which is celebrated on March 20, the Karimnagar district administration organised an awareness programme on the importance of conservation of ecology by saving house sparrows and other common birds by providing them with water and food during this summer season.


At a programme organised at the Collectorate auditorium in Karimnagar town on Tuesday, Collector Pamela Satpathy stressed on the need to protect sparrows and other small birds for the conservation of the environment. She said that the residents should provide a special focus on feed and shelter for birds as they were helping the people and ecology by eating the worms.
Recollecting that in our childhood we used to wake up to the melodious chirping of sparrows, but these things were memories now, the Collector said everyone has some kind of some kind of special bond with nature since childhood and it should be cherished in today’s materialistic life.
Additional Collector Praful Desai, District Science Officer Jaipal Reddy, sectoral officers Karra Ashok Reddy, Milkuri Srinivas, Gajula Ravinder, KS Anantha Charya, Vanthadpula Anjaneyulu, Divya and others were also present.
In view of SSC examinations from March 21, the district authorities had conducted competitions on Tuesday and distributed prizes for winners in painting, poster-making, nests preparations etc.
The winners of painting competitions include; K Akshay (GHS-Old, Karimnagar), S Gyan Tejaswini (Alphores GenNext School, Karimnagar) and P Sai Ganesh ( ZPHS, Burugupalli).
Poster-making competition: K Mani Varnika (ZPHS, Tadikal), B Pawani (ZPHS (girls), Huzurabad), T Rishitha (KGBC, Saidapur)
Nest preparations: Vishnu Gupta (GHS, Ramnagar), T Raju (ZPHS (boys), Jammikunta) and S Sri Chaitanya (ZPHS, Jubileenagar).
