ADILABAD, MAY 18, 2024: Cotton sowing could advance by a fortnight or so in Telangana, especially in the cotton rich belt of North Telangana in case the early rains persist in the region.
Having spent time in electioneering, cotton farmers have now made themselves busy in preparation of land anticipating an early monsoon.
Meanwhile, the Cotton Association of India (CAI), has maintained its estimate for cotton pressing during the current trading season which ends on September 30 at 309.7 lakh bales of 170 kg each.
The estimates also have the total cotton supply pegged at 315.86 lakh bales. If the opening stock of 28.9 lakh bales and export shipments amounting to 21.5 lakh bales are added to the cotton supply estimates, it comes up to 359 lakh bales. According to a press release issued by CAI president Atul S. Ganatra, the consumption of cotton until the end of April 2024 stood at 192.8 lakh bales.
