KARIMNAGAR, MAY 11, 2024: Karimnagar parliament constituency Returning Officer and Collector Pamela Satpathy has said that they had unprecedented arrangements for the smooth conduct of elections in a peaceful and democratic manner in the parliament constituency on May 13.
Talking to newsmen at Collectorate on Saturday, the Collector said that they had set up 2194 polling stations in all the seven Assembly segments of the parliament constituency. Among the total of 17.97 lakh electorate, the women voters outnumber men by about 40,000. There are around 42,000 specially-abled voters and 13,200 senior citizens. Out of a total of 10,200 government deployed for election duties, 8,815 voters had exercised their franchise through postal ballots and recorded 86.5 percent polling.
She said that employees who had registered under Election Duty Certificate (EDC) number 6,800 would cast their vote on polling day. Stating that a total of 28 candidates were in fray from the Karimnagar parliament constituency, she said that they would be deploying two ballot units in each polling station.
Pamela Satpathy said that they were taking all measures to ensure that there was no election code violation and added they had received 200 complaints through c-vigil app and resolved 144 complaints so far. She said that they had installed GPS facilities for the EVMs being transported to various polling stations.
Instructing that the non-locals to leave the district, she said that the police authorities have registered 16 MCC cases and seized Rs 8.87 crore cash, 2.11 crore worth liquor, 4.87 crore worth ganja. She said that they had completed 97 per cent of voters slips distribution in the constituency.
She called upon the people to exercise their franchise from 7 am to 6 pm on May 13. They had identified 288 sensitive and problematic polling stations in the constituency and making all measures to ensure smooth conduct of elections by deploying additional police forces.
She said that each assembly segment there would be five model polling stations and webcasting would be conducting 76 per cent of polling stations. She said that the distribution of EVMs for Karimnagar and Choppadandi segment would be conducted at SRR college and Manakondur assembly segment at government polytechnic college on the shores of LMD in Karimnagar. In the remaining assembly segments, it would be conducted in the respective areas only.
Commissioner of Police Abishek Mohanty said that they had deployed 2,500 police forces including para-military forces for the smooth conduct of polling. They had deployed central forces at 54 special critical polling stations. They had also constituted special striking forces to meet any eventuality and respond to any complaint to ensure peaceful conduct of elections. Additional Collector Praful Desai, DRO Pawan Kumar and others were also present.
