SIDDIPET, OCTOBER 10, 2026: Youth should focus on enhancing their skills and make the best use of available opportunities to achieve their goals and contribute to the development of society, said Former Minister and Siddipet MLA Thanneeru Harish Rao.
A Student and Youth Conference was organised at Government Degree College, Siddipet (Autonomous), on the occasion of the completion of ten years since the formation of Siddipet District on Saturday. Mr Harish Rao attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the glorious history and distinguished contributions of Government Degree College, Siddipet. He stated that the institution had produced several eminent personalities, including the first Chief Minister of Telangana, several IAS officers, scientists, college lecturers and school teachers, who have made significant contributions to society.

Recalling the difficulties faced by students, employees and farmers before the formation of Siddipet District, he explained the improvements and facilities made available after the district was established. He highlighted the establishment of institutions such as the Medical College, Polytechnic Colleges and Pharmacy Colleges to expand educational opportunities for youth. He also referred to the establishment of facilities such as the IT Tower to promote employment opportunities.
He advised students to identify their goals, develop professional and technical skills, and utilise the educational and employment opportunities available to them. He emphasised that skill development, hard work and determination are essential for achieving success in today’s competitive world.
The MLA appreciated the Principal, Prof. G. Sunitha, for providing courses and educational facilities that meet the needs of students and for her efforts towards the development of the institution.
As part of the celebrations, traditional Telangana food items and Bathukamma prasadam were displayed, reflecting the rich cultural heritage and culinary traditions of Telangana. In the evening, Bathukamma celebrations were conducted with great enthusiasm on the college premises. Students participated in the celebrations and showcased the cultural traditions of Telangana.
The programme was attended by Central Sahitya Akademi Award recipient Nandini Sidha Reddy, Vice Principal Prof. P. Ayodhya Reddy, Ch. Madhusudan, Gopala Sudarshanam, Pitla Dass, Prof. Matta Sampath Kumar Reddy, G. Leelavathi, other faculty members, and students.
The event highlighted the importance of youth empowerment, skill development, educational advancement and the preservation of Telangana’s cultural heritage.
