
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, OCTOBER 07, 2026: In the present competitive world, along with academic qualifications, developing soft skills and communication skills enables students to secure better employment opportunities, said Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi, Principal, Government Degree and PG College, Gambhiraopet.
The GDC Gambhiraopet organised a one-day workshop on “Soft Skills and Communication Skills for Employability” on Wednesday as part of the Academic Empowerment Programme for Government Degree Colleges – 100 Days Initiative, under the aegis of the Career Guidance Cell and Department of English, in collaboration with the Department of Business Management, Satavahana University.
Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi, Principal, GDC Gambhiraopet, served as the Chairperson of the workshop. J. Sravan Kumar, Career Guidance Cell Convenor and Assistant Professor of Mathematics, served as the Organising Secretary. Y. Anjaneeyulu, IQAC Coordinator and Assistant Professor of English, served as the Convenor. N. V. Sri Ranga Prasad served as the Coordinator and extended his support in organizing the programme.
Addressing the workshop, Principal Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi stated that soft skills and communication skills are essential for academic success, employability, career development, and personal growth. She emphasised that while technical knowledge helps an individual secure a job, soft skills and effective communication play a crucial role in performing effectively, succeeding, and progressing in the workplace.
E Rambhaskar Raju, Associate Professor of English, Kakatiya Government Degree and PG College, Hanamkonda, also attended the workshop.
The first resource person, E. Manohar, Assistant Professor and Chairman, Board of Studies, Department of Business Management, Satavahana University, delivered a session on “Communication Skills for Employability.” He explained the meaning, process, and importance of communication and discussed various forms of communication, including verbal, non-verbal, written, visual, formal, and informal communication. He also explained the 7 Cs of effective communication, barriers to communication, active listening, questioning, and feedback.
The second resource person, M. Manoj Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Management, Satavahana University, delivered a session on “Soft Skills for Employability.” He explained the nature and importance of soft skills, their distinction from hard skills, and their significance in securing employment. He also created awareness among students about emotional intelligence, empathy, adaptability, flexibility, professional responsibility, time management, goal setting, and work ethics.
Speaking on the occasion, J. Sravan Kumar, Organising Secretary, stated that along with academic qualifications, communication skills, teamwork, self-confidence, time management, presentation skills, and interview skills are essential for employability. He encouraged students to put the skills and knowledge gained through the workshop into practice.
Y Anjaneeyulu, Convenor, stated that soft skills are essential for the overall personality development of students. He encouraged students to identify their talents and continuously work towards improving their skills.
As part of the programme, the organisers felicitated E. Manohar and M. Manoj Kumar in recognition of their contribution as resource persons. The students participated enthusiastically in the workshop and gained practical knowledge and insights into various aspects of communication and soft skills. Certificates were also distributed to all the students who participated in the workshop.
The programme was attended by faculty members including M. Prabhakar, P. Dharmapuri, V. Vani, Adivishnu, K. V. Bikshamaiah, Manohar, Sucharan, Srinivas, Krishna Prasad, Mahesh, Shankar, Deepika, Bhargavi, Akalya, Vijaya, and others.
