RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, OCTOBER 06, 2026: The District Legal Services Authority of Rajanna-Sircilla district in coordination with the Women empowerment cell of Government Degree College in Gambhiraopet mandal headquarters conducted a legal awareness session on legal rights and laws on Tuesday.
The programme was coordinated by V. Vani, Coordinator, Women Empowerment Cell, under the chairpersonship of Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi, Principal.
Speaking on the occasion, Gurram Anjaneyulu, Lok Adalat Member and Advocate, explained various important laws, including the Dowry Prohibition Act, Domestic Violence Act, POCSO Act, laws relating to the control of Narcotic substances, and anti-ragging regulations.
Jyothi, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel, highlighted the legal support available to girls and advised students to call the 1098 toll-free helpline for assistance in resolving issues concerning children and girls.
Madhusudan, Legal Advocate, spoke about road safety, traffic rules and regulations, and free legal aid, and emphasised the importance of being aware of one’s legal rights and responsibilities.
Principal Prof. V. Vijayalakshmi, in her address, called upon the students to develop a strong awareness of various laws and legal rights and to create social awareness by sharing this knowledge with others.
The programme was attended by Kunta Srinivas, Sushma, Manisha, Vice Principal M. Prabhakar, NSS Programme Officer P. Dharmapuri, TASK Coordinator J. Sravan Kumar, N. Adivishnu, K. V. Bikshamaiah, Manohar, Sucharan, Srinivas, Krishna Prasad, Mahesh, Shankar, Deepika, Bhargavi, Vijaya, Akhila, and other teaching and non-teaching staff and students of the college.
The seminar provided students with valuable awareness of legal rights, safety, available legal remedies, and their responsibilities as informed citizens.
