WARANGAL, SEPTEMBER 29, 2026: Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy called for collective efforts to preserve and promote Telugu and urged students to develop the habit of reading books in this digital and technology era.
He was speaking at the launch and dedication of three books—‘Shabda Vahini (Naneelu)’, ‘Sahiti Chandrika (Essays)’ and ‘Ambedkar Malli Puttadu (Play)’, authored by retired Telugu faculty member Peddi Venkatayya. The programme was jointly organised by the KU Department of Telugu and Spandana Kalanikethan, Madikonda, at the Commerce College Seminar Hall on September 29, under the chairmanship of Chirra Raju.
Prof. Pratap Reddy said the growing use of technology was reducing students’ interest in book reading and noted that literary programmes could inspire them to reconnect with books and literature. He called for more new literary creations to enrich Telugu.
Registrar Prof. V. Ramachandram said preserving Telugu and passing its rich literary heritage to future generations was a collective responsibility. He urged writers, scholars and students to contribute to the development of Telugu literature.
The books were dedicated to retired Prof. Pakanati Jyothi; late Prof. Pervaram Jagannatham, represented by his sons Pervaram Shankar Rao and Pervaram Srinath; and Chirra Raju, respectively.
Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award recipient Ampasayya Naveen, Kaloji Award recipient V.R. Vidyarthi, Commerce College Principal Prof. S. Narasimha Chary, Telugu Department Head M. Lingaiah, author Peddi Venkatayya, retired faculty members and others attended.
