MEDAK, SEPTEMBER 26, 2026: The State-of-the-Art Centralised Community Kitchen with an installed capacity of 40,000 meals will provide nutritious breakfast to 29,183 Government School & Junior College children studying in 395 schools and 10 Junior Colleges across 11 Mandals of Medak and Narsapur Constituencies.
The Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation India’s (HKMCF India) State-of-the-Art Centralised Community Kitchen was inaugurated today by Minister of Labour, Employment, Training & Factories, Mines and Geology Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy at Medak Market Yard, to provide nutritious breakfast to Government School children. HKMCF India is the premier implementing partner of the Government of Telangana for the implementation of the Telangana School Breakfast Programme, one of the Government’s flagship initiatives to improve child nutrition and learning outcomes.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Minister in the presence of His Grace Sri Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Swamiji, President, Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation India (HKMCF India) and Regional President, The Akshaya Patra Foundation (Telangana & Andhra Pradesh), Medak MLA Mynampally Rohit, besides public representatives, eminent dignitaries, special guests, patrons, Government officials, and HKMCF India functionaries.
Equipped with modern technology and advanced food production practices, the state-of-the-art Centralised Community Kitchen will prepare and deliver fresh, hot, and nutritious breakfasts to Government School children on every school working day.
This project is the result of a collaborative partnership between the Government of Telangana and Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation India (HKMCF India). While the Government of Telangana provided necessary financial assistance and a 10,000 sq. ft. shed at the Agricultural Market Yard, Medak, HKMCF India will operate this kitchen under the Government of Telangana’s School Breakfast Programme.
The Telangana School Breakfast Programme is dedicated to providing hot, tasty, and nutritious breakfast to Government School children, especially those from underprivileged communities. By ensuring a nutritious start to the day, the programme promotes better health, supports optimal physical and mental development, and creates a stronger foundation for effective learning and overall well-being.
State-of-the-Art Technology and Infrastructure:
The Centralized Community Kitchen is equipped with cutting-edge technology and advanced automated systems designed to produce hygienic preparation of breakfast on a large scale while eliminating any scope for food contamination. The facility houses high-capacity automated steamers capable of preparing 5400 idlis per hour, a specially designed automatic dosa-making machine capable of producing 2000 dosas per hour, and a fully automatic puri-making machine with a production capacity of 3600 puris per hour.
The kitchen is also equipped with automated sambar cauldrons and curry-making equipment capable of preparing sambar and curry for 5,000 students within two hours, along with high-capacity rice cooking equipment that can prepare rice for 1,000 students in just 15 minutes.
Demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, the kitchen converts biodegradable waste generated during food preparation into biogas. It is further equipped with a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plant, Boiler Plant, Central Gas Bank, and an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) to ensure safe water usage, efficient operations, and environmentally responsible waste management.
To ensure that every child receives not only a hot and hygienic breakfast but also a nutritious and enjoyable meal, HKMCF India has developed a carefully planned, diverse menu endorsed by National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), along with a partnership with the Indian Institute of Millet Research (IIMR) that varies each school day.
On this occasion, Minister Vivek said: “Telangana stands as the only state in the entire world to provide free morning breakfast to lakhs of school children. In line with the promise made by Chief Minister Sri Revanth Reddy and the Congress government during the elections, we are delivering delicious, hygienic, and nutritious food to students.
Our Chief Minister initially entrusted this project on a pilot basis to the HKM Charitable Foundation in Kodangal, where it was successfully implemented. Through multiple discussions with representatives from Akshaya Patra and the HKM Charitable Foundation, their commitment to providing quality nutrition to underprivileged children became evident, prompting the state government to partner with them for this initiative.
Detailed planning has been put in place to ensure that fresh, quality breakfast reaches schools by 8:30 AM every day. To maintain strict standards of quality and volume without deviation, this kitchen has been established with state-of-the-art machinery. Beyond Medak district, the state government is setting up 36 centralised kitchens statewide to extend this programme to every student.
