KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 26, 2026: The Yuva Tourism Club (YTC) of Government Degree College for Women, Autonomous, Karimnagar, organised Essay Writing and Elocution Competitions on the occasion of ‘World Tourism Day’ on the theme “Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.” The competitions were conducted in English, Telugu and Urdu with active participation from students on Saturday.
The programme was graced by Y. Thirupati, District Nodal Tourism Officer, as the Chief Guest and V. Srinivas Goud, District Youth, Sports & Tourism Officer, Karimnagar, as the Guest of Honour.
Afsari Osmani, Vice Principal, highlighted the importance of tourism in the economic, social and cultural development of a country and encouraged students to actively contribute towards promoting tourism and local heritage.
Y Thirupati appreciated the efforts of the Yuva Tourism Club and stressed the importance of exploring and preserving the History, Culture, Heritage and Natural resources of the region. He encouraged students to use digital platforms to showcase the tourism potential of Karimnagar and Telangana.
V Srinivas Goud emphasised the growing importance of tourism and the role of youth in its promotion. He encouraged students to use Social media, Digital technology and Creative projects to create awareness about tourist destinations and promote Karimnagar tourism.
Nazia Rahaman, Yuva Tourism Club Coordinator of the College, informed that the college YTC has more than 100 members who actively participate in tourism-related activities. Students visit tourist places in and around Karimnagar, undertake projects and create social media content to promote local tourism. She also informed that GDCWA, Karimnagar YTC has its own YouTube channel, through which the club showcases its activities and promotes the tourism potential of Karimnagar.
YTC members Jabeen Sultana, Arshiya Sultana, G. Radha and J. Parmeshwar were present on the occasion. The students who secured First and Second Prizes in the Essay Writing and Elocution Competitions were felicitated with mementoes on behalf of the Yuva Tourism Club.
NSS Celebrates Chakali Ilamma Jayanti
The National Service Scheme unit of the college celebrated the birth anniversary of Chakali Ilamma, remembering her as a symbol of courage, self-respect and dignity of labour.
NSS Officers P. Swaroopa and M. V. Lakshman Rao, along with the faculty members of the Department of Telugu, participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, P. Swaroopa highlighted Chakali Ilamma’s courage, self-respect and contribution to society, while M. V. Lakshman Rao emphasised the importance of remembering her life and inspiring students with her values of determination, dignity and social responsibility.
