HANAMKONDA, SEPTEMBER 07, 2026: As part of the National Nutrition Week (1–7 September) celebrations, the Department of Food Science and Technology & Nutrition and Dietetics, Vaagdevi Degree & P.G. College, Hanamkonda, successfully organised a Buttermilk Awareness Camp to promote healthy dietary habits and raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of traditional fermented foods.
The programme benefited 150 students, who participated in an awareness session highlighting the nutritional value of buttermilk, its role in maintaining hydration and gut health, and its importance as a healthy alternative to sugar-sweetened beverages. Fresh buttermilk was also distributed to the students as part of the awareness campaign.
The initiative aimed to encourage students to adopt healthier food choices by incorporating traditional, nutritious, and affordable beverages into their daily diets. The programme received an enthusiastic response from both students and faculty, reinforcing the importance of nutrition education and healthy lifestyle practices.

The event was organised with the support of PSK Lavin Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, whose valuable collaboration contributed significantly to the success of the awareness programme. The Department expressed its sincere gratitude to the organisation for its commitment to promoting public health and nutrition awareness through academic–industry collaboration.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr A. Sheshachalam, Principal, and Dr P. Harinder Reddy, Vice Principal. Rajaprasad, IQAC Coordinator, and Dr G. Vikram, Dean of Life Sciences and Head, Department of Food Science and Technology & Nutrition and Dietetics, coordinated it. Faculty members M. Lakshmi Pujitha, M. Sravanthi, and Swetha actively participated in planning, organising, and successfully conducting the programme, contributing to its overall success.
