M Kodanda Reddy, Velichala Kondal Rao and folk singer Gotte Kanakavva selected for awards
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 06, 2026: Telangana State Rythu Commissioner M Kodanda Reddy, eminent educationist and poet by vocation Dr Velichala Kondal Rao and Telangana folk singer Gotte Kanakavva have been selected for the Ponnam Sathaiah Goud Memorial Lifetime Achievement Awards-2026.
The awards, given across literature and arts categories, were instituted by Ponnam Sathaiah Goud Charitable Trust, in memory of the late Ponnam Sathaiah Goud, father of Minister for Transport and Backwards Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar. The awards would be presented on September 16 at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad at 2 pm on the occasion of the 16th death anniversary of Ponnam Sathaiah Goud. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a memento and a citation, said trust vice president Ponnam Ashok Goud, in a statement here on Sunday.
The selection committee under the chairmanship of Ponnam Ravichandra, jury members including former Central Information Commissioner Madibhushi Sridhar, senior journalist P Dileep Reddy, Civil Supplies Director GV Shyam Prasad Lal, BC Study Circle director Mamidi Harikrishna and writer Ayunapudi Srilakshmi selected the winners and handed over the list to Trust chairman and Minister for Transport Ponnam Prabhakar in Hyderabad.
The trust had been handing over the lifetime achievement awards since last four years in the field of literature and arts. In the literary field, Naleshwaram Shankaram, Nelimala Bhaskar and Chandrabose received the awards and in the arts category; Oggu Dharmaiah, Comrade Vimalakka and Balagam cinema fame Komuramma and Mogilaiah.
