KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 05, 2026: On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Padala Thirupathi, Assistant Professor of Botany at SRR Government Arts & Science College (Autonomous), Karimnagar, has been honoured with the prestigious State Best Teacher Award–2026 in recognition of his distinguished contributions to teaching, research, student mentoring, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and social service.
Padala Thirupathi received the prestigious award from Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at a special Teachers’ Day programme held at Kodangal in Vikarabad district. Principal Secretary of Higher Education Yogita Rana, Commissioner Sri Devasena, TGCGTA General Secretary K. Surendar Reddy, senior officials, educationists, public representatives and other dignitaries participated in the programme and congratulated the award recipient. Prof. Kalvakunta Ramakrishna, Principal of SRR Government Arts & Science College, also participated in the programme and conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Thirupathi.
Padala Thirupathi has rendered 22 years of dedicated service in teaching and 17 years in research. His research contributions span diverse areas including Botany, biodiversity, biotechnology, environmental science, medicinal plants and plant conservation. He has published several research papers at national and international levels and has authored and co-authored 11 books, besides contributing chapters to various academic publications.
His contribution towards student mentoring and higher education has also received wide appreciation. Through free online Botany coaching, he has been guiding students preparing for competitive examinations such as CPGET, TS-SET, UGC-NET, JL, DL and PGT, helping many students achieve better results and higher ranks. He also continuously encourages students to undertake research projects and develops their scientific temperament, creativity and academic skills.
Thirupathi has actively participated in various environmental protection and biodiversity conservation initiatives, including the development of botanical and herbal gardens, Eco Club activities, Telangana Ku Haritha Haram, environmental awareness programmes and plant conservation initiatives. He has also contributed to several social-service activities through NSS, including blood donation camps and community outreach programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Tirukovela Srinivas, Head of the Department of Botany and Controller of Examinations, appreciated Thirupathi for his multifaceted contribution to teaching, research, student guidance, environmental protection and social service. He said that the State Best Teacher Award–2026 was a matter of great pride for both the Botany Department and SRR Government Arts & Science College. He described the award as a fitting recognition of Thirupathi’s sustained dedication and wished him greater achievements and honours in the future.
Prof. Kalvakunta Ramakrishna, Principal, stated that Thirupathi’s commitment to teaching, research, student development and social service is an inspiration to fellow teachers. He said that the State-level recognition was a matter of pride for the college and Karimnagar district and extended his heartfelt congratulations to the awardee.
Padala Thirupathi has previously received several honours, including the District Best Teacher Award–2023, Best Teacher recognitions and Best NSS Programme Officer Awards. The conferment of the State Best Teacher Award–2026 has been widely welcomed by the faculty, students, alumni, educationists, friends and well-wishers of SRR Government Arts & Science College.
The award stands as a significant recognition of Thirupathi’s philosophy of treating teaching as a responsibility, research as a continuous pursuit, student success as a mission and social service as a commitment. His achievement has brought pride to SRR Government Arts & Science College, the Botany Department and Karimnagar district.
