Model roads will be developed with ₹630 crore UCF funds
3 foot-over bridges, 1 skywalk and development of major junctions
Water drains will be constructed over 80 km with ₹130 crore
₹80 crore will be spent on solid waste management to find a permanent solution to the dumping yard problem
130 electric vehicles will be purchased
KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 31, 2026: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that new roads and drains will be built in every lane and by-lane of the villages which were merged with the Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar.
Stating that the Karimnagar municipality was receiving several funds from the central government, he said that the Karimnagar city will be developed as a model city in the Telugu states. The development works will include model roads, a skywalk, junction development, foot-over bridges and water drainage systems and also said that more than ₹22,000 crore has been spent in the last seven years for the development of the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation and the Karimnagar Parliamentary Constituency.
The Union Minister laid the foundation stone for the drainage pipeline and CC road works in Division 45, Mankammathota, in Karimnagar town on Monday. The works have been taken up at an estimated cost of ₹70 lakh under UIDF funds. Karimnagar Mayor Kolagani Srinivas, Deputy Mayor Sunil Rao, Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai, local corporator Gugilla Jayashree s and several BJP leaders attended the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bandi Sanjay said that he was working with a strong determination to develop Karimnagar Municipal Corporation in all areas. As part of this effort, ₹50 crore in UIDF funds has been brought from the Central Government. Another ₹30 crore is likely to be sanctioned, and the Central Government has also been persuaded to include Karimnagar in the UCF list, through which ₹840 crore has been brought for the city’s development.
These funds will be used to completely transform the look and infrastructure of Karimnagar Corporation. With ₹630 crore, we will build 40 or more model roads, covering around 50 km. Foot-over bridges will be constructed near the District Court, Civil Hospital and Geetha Bhavan. A skywalk near Karimnagar Bus Station, similar to the one in Uppal, Hyderabad, will be constructed. Major traffic junctions in the city will be identified and developed beautifully. We will also purchase 130 electric vehicles to provide pollution-free transport facilities in the city.
He said that they had prepared proposals to construct and develop storm water drains over a total length of 80 km to properly carry rainwater away from the city. They had also prepared ₹80 crore worth of solid waste management proposals for a permanent solution to the dumping yard problem in Karimnagar. We are going to set up an “Integrated Solid Waste Management Project – Transfer Station and Processing Unit” to collect the waste generated in the city, separate it at the processing centre, recycle it, and scientifically dispose of the remaining waste, he stated.
