BERLIN (GERMANY), AUGUST 17, 2026: The Indian diaspora in Germany came together at Berlin’s historic Brandenburg Gate to celebrate Bharat Diwas, commemorating the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, on Sunday.
The event brought together Indian associations and community members from across Germany in a vibrant celebration of India’s unity, diversity, rich culture, and heritage.
The celebrations were led by Dr. Raghu Chelliganti, Chairperson and Founder President of the Telangana Association, together with Dr. Akhil Agarwal from the UP Association and Veena Chowdhary representing the Kashmiri community, with the active support and participation of Indian associations and community organisations.
We were deeply honoured by the gracious presence of His Excellency Mr. Ajit Gupta, Ambassador of India to Germany, and his wife, along with distinguished officials of the Indian Mission, including Mr. Stalin Babu Cheekatla, Minister (Consular), and Dr. Mandeep Singh Tuli, Minister (Personnel), as well as other distinguished guests.

Hundreds of members of the Indian diaspora gathered at the Brandenburg Gate, creating a wonderful atmosphere of patriotism, unity, and togetherness. Colourful cultural performances representing different states of India beautifully showcased the remarkable diversity of our nation, while bringing everyone together under the Tiranga. 🇮🇳
The celebrations concluded with a memorable Unity Walk from the Brandenburg Gate to the Shanti Stupa, carrying a powerful message of peace, friendship, unity, and solidarity.
It was truly a proud and memorable occasion for the Indian community in Germany—a celebration of Bharat, our shared heritage, and our enduring spirit of unity in diversity.
