PD Parveena Begum receives appreciation award from Minister for Social Welfare Adluri Laxman Kumar
KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 15, 2026: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Nagunur, Karimnagar town, on Saturday.
The celebrations began with the recitation of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Principal T. Malathi hoisted the National Flag, rendered the national anthem and highlighted the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, urging students to uphold the values of freedom, unity, discipline and patriotism and become responsible citizens.
She also appreciated PD Parveen Begum for receiving the Appreciation Award from Minister for Social Welfare Adluri Laxman at the Police Parade Grounds in Karimnagar town. Vice-Principal S. Padmaja emphasised the importance of remembering the struggles and sacrifices of national heroes and encouraged students to develop a spirit of service and responsibility towards the nation.
Superintendent T. Suresh Kumar stressed the importance of discipline, unity and dedication in building a strong nation, while Senior Faculty Members E. Venkateshwarlu and P. Shankaraiah spoke about the significance of Independence Day and motivated students to draw inspiration from the courage, patriotism and sacrifices of the freedom fighters.

Faculty member T. Jahnavi encouraged students to develop patriotism, self-discipline and a sense of responsibility and to use their education for the progress of the nation. ACO G. Vasumathi, IQAC Coordinator G. Samatha, NSS Coordinators K. Geetha Rani and V. Ambica, senior faculty members, along with all teaching and non-teaching staff, actively participated in the celebrations. Students actively participated in various activities and paid tribute to the freedom fighters through patriotic songs, dances and cultural programmes. Certificates were distributed to the winners of various competitions. The celebrations concluded with a strong message of patriotism, unity and national responsibility.
