KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 04, 2026: Bonalu, one of the most vibrant festivals symbolising the rich culture and traditions of Telangana, was celebrated with religious fervour and reverence at Manair CBSE School in Padmanagar locality in Karimnagar on Tuesday.
On the occasion, students captivated everyone by dressing up as Goddess Mahankali and Pothuraju. Clad in traditional attire, they carried beautifully decorated Bonalu and performed energetic folk dances to the rhythmic beats of drums, creating a spiritually vibrant and culturally festive atmosphere across the school campus. Their enthusiastic performances were highly appreciated by all.
Symbolically, they visited the Goddess Muthyala Pochamma temple and offered prayers and bonams, as is a ritual during the festivities. Manair Educational Institutions chairman K Anantha Reddy stated that Bonalu is a proud symbol of Telangana’s rich cultural heritage and traditions. He explained that the festival reflects the age-old custom of offering Bonams to Goddess Mahankali during the holy month of Ashadam, seeking her divine blessings while revering nature as the Universal Mother. He further emphasised that it is the responsibility of every educational institution to preserve and promote India’s cultural values and traditions, and encouraged students to respect and uphold the country’s rich heritage.
