KARIMNAGAR, AUGUST 04, 2026: Progressive farmers Muthyala Rajani-Ramana Reddy organised a breastfeeding awareness among the womenfolk in general and mothers in particular in Mylaram village of Ganneruvaram on Tuesday.
They also distributed organic drumstick powder to the mothers for increasing milk production and benefiting the child’s early development and emotionally fulfilling experience for mothers. They also emphasised the importance of breastfeeding and appealed to them not to feed infants with a bottle to prevent infections.
The programme was organised as part of the World Breastfeeding Week celebrations. Village sarpanch Galepalli Pochamma said mother’s milk acts as nectar to the infant and his early growth. Stating that mothers should give only breast milk to the children till six months after the infant’s birth, she emphasised the need to educate both expectant and nursing mothers about the nutritional and immunological benefits of breastfeeding, calling it essential for both maternal and child health.

MRO Narender, AO Kiranmayee, upa-sarpanch G Bharathalaxmi, MPDO Surender, Panchayat Secretary G Chiranjeevi, Anganwadi Teacher Padma, ASHA worker Ch Kavitha, Headmaster Srinivas, Mandal Congress leader Mynampalli Tirupati and others participated in the programme.
The speakers said such awareness programmes promote breastfeeding practices and dispel common myths through expert talks and interactive sessions. They stressed that exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby’s life provides all essential nutrients required for physical and mental growth and helps prevent infections and sudden infant death syndrome.
