KARIMNAGAR, JULY 29, 2026: The traditional Bonalu festival was celebrated with religious fervour and reverence at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College for Women in Nagunuru of Karimnagar town on Wednesday.
The students and women teachers in their traditional attire performed special poojas for Goddess Yellamma as part of the festival, which is considered a form of thanksgiving to the Goddess after the fulfilment of vows. Students dressed as Goddess Mahankali and Pothuraju enthralled the gathering with traditional attire, songs, dances, and cultural performances.
Principal T. Malathi highlighted the significance of Bonalu and its role in preserving Telangana’s rich culture and heritage. Vice-Principal S. Padmaja, Superintendent T.Suresh Kumar, ACO G. Vasumathi, Senior faculty members Venkateshwarlu, Shankaraiah, K Radhika, Cultural Committee members G. Sandhya Rani, Mamatha, Deepti, Saritha, Maheshwari, faculty members, and students participated in the celebrations.
