KARIMNAGAR, JULY 08, 2026: Mumbai’s Dabbawalas, which have won accolades in the country for bringing lunch with homemade food to thousands of office workers across the metropolitan city, has entered the Karimnagar market and are gaining momentum with Sahasra’s Dabbawala.
Started four years ago on a low-key affair, had now become talk of the town with over hundred customers. The Sahasras’ Dabbawala with logistics network picks up fresh, home-cooked lunch from the residences and delivers them at the schools, colleges and offices across the Karimnagar town, which is growing in leaps and bounds in the Telangana state.
In spite of facing competition from modern food delivery platforms (apps) and their network, Sahasra’s Dabbawala has won accolades for its prompt in-time collection of lunch boxes and its delivery in Karimnagar. Come rain or shine, our motto is to deliver home-cooked food on time, and punctuality is critical, said Pendyala Saikrishna Reddy, founder of Sahasra’s Dabbawala and caterers in Karimnagar town.
Started with few customers four years ago, has now more than 100 customers and five delivery boys working in his firm, he said and added that the delivery boys use eco-friendly EV vehicles to save the environment from pollution. The charges for the delivery of lunch boxes include: 0 to 5 kilometres distance Rs 800 per month and 5 to 10 kilometres, Rs 1,000 per month, covering a radius of 10 kilometres of Karimnagar town.
Saikrishna said they would inform the customers to get ready with lunch box at the scheduled time as delays caused by waiting for one person’s box can result in late deliveries for others. In case of unavoidable emergencies when the delivery of lunch boz delivery may not be possible, in such cases, prior information will be communicated in advance to the customer, he added.
The Sahasra’s Dabbawala also entered into catering services for all functions, parties and get-togethers in and around Karimnagar. They serve vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes alongwith crockery and cutlery rentals, which are stainless steel and environmentally friendly.
