Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, organised by the Central Bureau of Communication
HYDERABAD, JULY 08, 2026:Â “Combating drug abuse requires a coordinated approach involving law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, communities and citizens,” said P. Srinivasa Rao, Inspector, Telangana EAGLE Force, while addressing an Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan organised by the Central Bureau of Communication at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College, Baghlingampally, Hyderabad, on Wednesday.
Stressing that public participation is essential to eliminate the menace of drugs, he said the fight against substance abuse can succeed only through collective action. Highlighting the initiatives taken by the Telangana Police, Srinivasa Rao said sustained enforcement, coupled with actionable public inputs received through the toll-free helpline 1908, has strengthened efforts to identify, investigate and dismantle drug trafficking networks across the State. Describing drug trafficking as a serious threat to the nation’s youth, he said traffickers deliberately target young people, particularly students and educational institutions. He stressed the need to create greater awareness among students and the public to prevent substance abuse.
Srinivasa Rao said the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is based on three key pillars—strict enforcement against drug traffickers, widespread public awareness, and de-addiction and rehabilitation of those affected by substance abuse. He called upon citizens to remain vigilant, actively support anti-drug initiatives and work together towards realising the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
Earlier, Shruti Patil, Additional Director General, PIB & CBC, said the Central Bureau of Communication is committed to spreading awareness about the Government of India’s flagship programmes. She said the programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan reflects the Government’s commitment to building a healthy, safe and drug-free society. She noted that awareness, prevention and informed choices are the most effective means to combat drug abuse while emphasising the importance of supporting those battling addiction and helping them reintegrate into society with dignity.
Prof. Limbadri, CEO, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Educational Institutions, described drug addiction, along with online and cyber fraud, as one of the biggest threats confronting the youth, families and the nation’s future. He urged students to stay away from addictive substances, build strong character and spread awareness among their peers.
The speakers urged participants to actively engage in the campaign and share the knowledge gained with their families and communities, contributing to the collective effort of building a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
Prof. Yadagiri, Director of Evaluation, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Educational Institutions; Dr. Shekar Matta, Principal, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College; faculty members, students, and officials and staff of the Central Bureau of Communication attended the programme.
