A Strong Assurance for Every Heart…Singareni’s Commitment to Lifesaving Cardiac Care

State-of-the-Art Cath Lab at Godavarikhani Brings Advanced Cardiac Care to the Coal Belt

Facility expected to involve an annual expenditure of around ₹6 crore

Emergency heart treatment is now available locally, offering timely care and saving thousands of lives

Another significant step by Singareni towards the welfare of employees and their families

GODAVARIKHANI, JUNE 29, 2026: In line with the directions of the State Government and reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the health of the workforce that powers the nation, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has taken another landmark step by establishing a state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Laboratory at the Ramagundam-I Area Hospital. The facility is now ready for formal inauguration.

The Cath Lab has been established in Godavarikhani, where a large number of Singareni employees (around 33,000) reside, following the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu emphasised providing world-class super-speciality healthcare to Singareni employees. This initiative will greatly benefit thousands of serving employees, their families, retired employees, and residents of the surrounding areas in Peddapalli, Mancherial, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts.

Why a Cath Lab?

Heart disease has become one of the most life-threatening health conditions affecting people of all age groups. While heart attacks are often unpredictable, doctors stress that the first hour, known as the “Golden Hour,” is crucial for saving lives. Immediate medical intervention during this period significantly increases survival chances.

Although Singareni operates several well-equipped Area Hospitals across its command areas, advanced cardiac intervention facilities were not previously available. Until now, patients suffering from heart attacks had to be shifted to Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, or other distant cities, resulting in the loss of precious Golden Hour time.

Recognizing this critical need, Singareni has established an advanced Cath Lab at Godavarikhani to provide immediate life-saving cardiac care.

Saving Lives During the “Golden Hour”

The first hour after a heart attack is the most critical. Timely procedures such as angiograms and angioplasty can significantly improve survival rates.

Understanding the importance of these emergency interventions, Singareni management has established the Cath Lab with advanced international-standard technology. The facility has been fully equipped to deliver prompt, high-quality cardiac care to the people of the coal belt.

Employees’ Health is the Company’s Greatest Asset

Singareni spends over ₹300 crore annually on employee healthcare, with a substantial portion allocated towards referrals to corporate hospitals.

During the previous year alone, nearly 3,000 employees and their family members suffering from cardiac ailments from Bhupalpally, Bellampalli, Ramagundam, Ramakrishnapur, and surrounding areas had to be referred to corporate hospitals in Hyderabad and other cities.

Recognizing that every minute is critical in treating cardiac emergencies, the Singareni management decided that timely access to advanced treatment is more valuable than merely spending large sums on referrals. With this conviction, the company established the state-of-the-art Cath Lab at Godavarikhani, once again demonstrating that employee welfare remains its highest priority and setting an example for public sector organizations across the country.

A Major Healthcare Boost for North Telangana

The Singareni Cardiology Department, located within the Ramagundam-I Area Hospital campus at Godavarikhani, has been developed over an area of 7,890 square feet.

The facility includes:

  • A 5-bed Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU)
  • A 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • A dedicated Outpatient (OP) Block with consultation rooms

The Cath Lab is expected to serve lakhs of people across the coal belt, including residents of Godavarikhani, Ramagundam, Mancherial, Bellampalli, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Manthani, and nearby regions.

The facility has been established under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with Singareni expected to spend nearly ₹50 crore over seven years. Advanced cardiac services will also be made available to the general public at affordable rates based on the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) tariff structure.

It is estimated that over 3,000 patients every month will utilize these services. Importantly, 50% of the bed capacity has been reserved for Singareni employees, their family members, and retired employees.

Services Available at the Godavarikhani Cath Lab

The Cath Lab will provide comprehensive advanced cardiac diagnostic and treatment services, including:

  • Coronary Angiography: Advanced diagnostic imaging to detect blockages in coronary arteries.
  • Angiogram & Angioplasty: Emergency procedures to assess and restore blood flow during heart attacks.
  • Coronary Stenting: Life-saving stent implantation procedures to open blocked arteries.
  • Interventional Cardiology Services: Comprehensive treatment by experienced cardiologists supported by specially trained medical professionals.

Speaking on the occasion, Singareni Chief Medical Officer Dr Kiran Raj Kumar stated that the Cath Lab has been established in accordance with the State Government’s vision of making super-specialty healthcare available locally, thereby providing timely, advanced treatment to employees and the public alike.

He expressed confidence that the Godavarikhani Cath Lab would become a life-saving centre by delivering emergency cardiac treatment during the Golden Hour itself, eliminating the need to shift patients to distant cities and significantly improving survival rates for thousands of people across the coal belt.
