TIRUMALA, JUNE 15, 2026: The Salakatla Jyeshtabhishekam will be held at the Srivari Temple in Tirumala from June 26 to 28.
Every year, in the month of Jyeshta, the celestial Jyeshtabhishekam, which is also known as Abhidyeyaka Abhishekam, is performed for three days, concluding on the day of the advent of Jyeshta Nakshatra.
This ritual, which is performed in the Kalyana Mandapam of Sampangi Prakaram.
Significance:
This festival is usually observed to protect the ancient ceremonial idols of the deities from wear and tear due to the Abhishekams performed over generations.
Different Armours:
On the first day, the golden armour of Sri Malayappa Swamy is removed, and homas, abhishekams and Panchamrutha Snapana Tirumanjanam are performed.
After that, Sri Malayappa Swami is adorned with a diamond armour. On the second day, a pearl armour is decked. On the third day, the deity is adorned with the gold armour again.
Once in a year:
This gold armour is taken off again next year during the time of Jyeshtabhishekam only. Until then, utsava deity participates in various festivals in the gold armour throughout the year.
Sevas Cancelled:
In view of the Srivari Jyeshtabhishekam, TTD has cancelled the Arjita Sevas including Kalyanotsavam, Unjal Seva, and Arjita Brahmotsavam on June 28.
