However, the rains wreaked havoc in Karimnagar town with the inundation of low-lying areas and traffic snarls
KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 04, 2026: The severe heatwave that had tormented Karimnagar town and the wider integrated Karimnagar district since Monday met a decisive, drenching end on Thursday as heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds swept through various parts of Karimnagar district — sending the mercury into a freefall that stunned even hardened weather watchers.
The temperature had plummeted with the rains and cool breeze. But the rains and gales wreaked havoc, with several low-lying areas inundated with stormwater. As the drains constructed by the BRS government are not taken up scientifically for the easy flow of the drain water.
The rainwater is overflowing on the roads at Bhagathnagar, Collectorate, Ramnagar, Katta Rampur, R&B guest house, Adarsh Nagar, Subhash Nagar and other localities, causing umpteen woes to the road users.

Uprooted hoardings put commuters at risk in Karimnagar
The sudden thunderstorms have wreaked havoc in various parts of Karimnagar city with uprooted trees, torn hoardings lying on the road and posing a risk to road users. Residents complained that roads are littered with the debris of oversized hoardings, posing a risk to residents here.
“Uprooted trees and torn hoardings pose a significant risk to road users here. MCK should ensure that hoardings are affixed according to the mandated specifications and safety guidelines. Unauthorised, oversized hoardings are a potential risk to road users,” said Mohammed Azam, a social activist here.
He also found fault with the MCK authorities for showing a negligent eye towards illegal hoardings and vinyl posters at traffic islands, which are posing a threat to road users with obstruction of vision on the roads.
