Auto-wallahs can violate traffic norms with the support of the Traffic and RTA officials
Traffic police only target two-wheelers and four-wheelers by imposing e-challans
But the police remain mute spectators for several violations by auto-wallahs
The police should also be cautious of so-called NGO, who had been claiming to conduct traffic awareness programmes, but encourage the auto-wallahs to encroach roads for his the mamools
KARIMNAGAR, APRIL 14, 2026: Even as the Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police have taken up a drive for the painting of Zebra crossings in various parts of Karimnagar town, the police have neglected their legitimate duties of removing illegal and unscientific auto-stands and overloading of auto-rickshaws in the Commissionerate limits.
However, the Traffic police target only two-wheelers and four-wheelers drivers for not wearing helmets, wrong side driving, and not wearing seat belts by the car drivers etc. But, the auto-drivers can go scot-free in spite of violations with overloading and encroachment of roads by erecting the sign boards with ‘auto stands’ for the reasons better known to traffic cops for the regular ‘mamools’ by the auto association.
It is ridiculous to see that the Traffic cops impose e-challans on the two-wheelers for not wearing helmets and wrong-side driving. They impose fines for cars stating that they had parked the vehicles on non-parking areas. But the traffic cops do not remove encroachments of footpaths and parking places by various vendors in the entire town. The police or the MCK authorities take any measures for the benefit of two-wheelers and four-wheelers. But the cops are bent upon imposing challans only on two-wheelers and cars.
But, the auto-wallahs can go scot-free as they provide the regular monthly mamools. The Karimnagar auto drivers association elections are scheduled to be conducted on April 19 in Karimnagar and the Traffic cops are taking all measures for the conduct of elections for the obvious better known to them.
It is also time for the Police authorities not to believe some of the organisations, who claim to be doing service for the education of people on traffic rules and regulations, as they are making huge money on its behest by blackmailing traders and others in various parts of the town. The so-called NGO claims that the CP and other police officials are close and threaten them in the Gunj commercial area to make a fast buck. It is time for the police authorities to check the credentials of the so-called NGO and take action accordingly.
