NAGALAND, MARCH 07, 2026: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar praised the Assam Rifles Training Centre for its excellent work in training soldiers with discipline and preparing them to be physically and mentally strong and capable.
The Passing Out Parade (oath-taking ceremony) of soldiers who completed their training was held this morning at the Assam Rifles Training Centre & School in Shokhuvi, in the Dimapur region of Nagaland. Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar attended the event as the Chief Guest. During the parade, 762 newly trained soldiers took the oath in unison in the presence of the Union Minister.
After the ceremony, the Minister witnessed the parade demonstrations conducted by the Assam Rifles. Addressing the newly trained soldiers, he said they are the future Jawans, NCOs, and JCOs, and that some may even become officers. He emphasised that every soldier must always uphold the honour of the force and ensure that their conduct never brings disrepute to the uniform or the organisation. He added that for a soldier, duty is the highest responsibility, and urged them always to remember the oath they have taken and remain ready to serve Mother India at all times.

He further said that the day is an important milestone in the history of the Assam Rifles, as 762 recruits took the oath and joined this prestigious force. The participation of both men and women in the ceremony reflects the changing face of the nation. By joining the force, they are not only improving their own lives and the lives of their families, but are also becoming role models for future generations of young men and women who will contribute to the progress of the country.
He appreciated the efforts of the personnel at the Assam Rifles Training Centre for working hard to train soldiers. He congratulated all the members of ARTC & S for producing well-trained and capable soldiers and remarked, “I am familiar with the training system of the Central Armed Police Forces. After witnessing your training, it is clear that the Assam Rifles is renowned for its organisational excellence and honour, and its training standards are truly unmatched.”
The Minister further expressed hope that in the future the Assam Rifles Training Centre would continue to earn a good reputation by adopting modern training methods and by imparting effective and skill-based new combat techniques.
After the parade concluded, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar inaugurated the newly established “Shaurya Sthal” near the Assam Rifles parade ground. This memorial has been constructed to commemorate the bravery, sacrifice, and proud military history of the soldiers of the Assam Rifles. At the centre stands a pillar with the Ashoka Chakra, symbolising the country’s history and traditional values.

The walls surrounding the memorial display images depicting the wars and operations in which the Assam Rifles has participated since its inception. These visuals also commemorate the stories of brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that the Shaurya Sthal will help trainees understand the true spirit of military life and will instill discipline, patriotism, and a spirit of sacrifice among them. He added that the memorial is also intended to ensure that official ceremonies and events are conducted with greater dignity, while inspiring dedication and courage among personnel of different ranks.
After the event, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar took a group photograph with the newly inducted soldiers of the Assam Rifles and interacted with their parents who had come to witness the ceremony. Notably, several families from Telugu-speaking regions were also present.
One emotional moment moved everyone present when a woman from Karnataka shared her story with tears of pride. She said that her elder son, who had joined the Assam Rifles, had sacrificed his life while serving the nation. Despite that loss, she enrolled her younger son in the Assam Rifles as well. She expressed happiness that he had successfully completed his training and taken the oath in the presence of the Union Minister.
