RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, FEBRUARY 21, 2026: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College, Shatrajpalli, Vemulawada town, in association with the Telugu department and NSS unit, celebrated the International Mother Language Day with much pomp and gaiety on the college premises on Saturday.
The aim of organising this programme was to imbibe the feelings of love and respect among students regarding the relevance of the mother tongue, Telugu. Principal K Lavanya, while elucidating upon the value of the Telugu language, said right expression of a person’s feelings and emotions was possible only through one’s mother tongue. Hence, everyone needed to understand the deep insights of language.

She also talked about the significance of celebrating International Mother Language Day and stressed, “We must step forward to preserve our mother tongue language, which is indeed our root”. The students presented cultural programmes on the importance of promoting the mother tongue. The college also distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions. Vice principal B Sumalath, HoD of Telugu department S Sandhya Rani, NSS Programme officer V Swapna, council members G Swapna and G Rajini and other faculty members were also present.
