HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 21, 2026: The Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), Hyderabad, celebrated its 5th Convocation Ceremony with great pride and academic grandeur at its campus auditorium in Hyderabad. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the graduating Class of 2025, recognising their achievements and preparing them for professional careers in design, fashion, footwear, retail, and allied industries.
The ceremony was graced by G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Coal & Mines, as the Chief Guest. In his convocation address, he highlighted India’s growing global leadership in manufacturing, innovation, and skill development. He emphasised that the footwear and leather sector is a major economic driver, generating employment for millions and contributing significantly to exports and MSME growth. He encouraged graduates to leverage technology, sustainability, and design innovation to strengthen India’s global competitiveness.

The event was presided over by Shri Vivek Sharma (IRS), Managing Director, FDDI, who congratulated the graduates and emphasised the institute’s commitment to developing globally competent professionals. He urged students to embrace innovation, sustainability, ethical practices, and design thinking to create meaningful societal impact.

The ceremony commenced with the welcome address by Executive Director Tej Lohit Reddy, who outlined the rapid growth of the Hyderabad campus since its establishment in 2018. He highlighted key achievements, including the Centre of Excellence, modern laboratories, and enhanced industry collaborations. The Batch of 2025 included 72 graduating students from Fashion Design, Footwear Design, Leather Goods & Accessories Design, and Management programs.
During the ceremony, gold and silver medals were awarded to meritorious students in recognition of academic excellence. The convocation oath was administered, and degrees were formally conferred upon the graduates in the presence of dignitaries, faculty members, industry partners, and proud parents.
Speakers emphasised that FDDI continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening India’s footwear, leather, fashion, and retail ecosystem through skill development, innovation, research, and industry integration. The institute remains committed to promoting sustainable practices, entrepreneurship, and global standards in design and manufacturing.
