NALGONDA, JANUARY 31, 2026: “Gandhiji stands as a monumental figure who led our country to independence through the power of truth, non-violence, and moral principles. It is our collective duty to honour his incredible life and ideals,” remarked Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) Prof. Khaja Althaf Hussain.
During a gathering held at the Arts Block to mark the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Friday, Prof. Althaf emphasised, “Gandhiji was more than a leader; he embodied a way of living. His commitment to self-discipline, service, and social equality serves as a vital guiding light for today’s youth. His belief that education transcends mere knowledge acquisition and is about personal growth remains crucial for educational institutions like ours.”

In a time marked by rising intolerance, violence, and selfishness, he noted that Gandhi’s teachings are more pertinent than ever. “We truly honour his legacy when we embody truth and non-violence in our thoughts, words, and deeds,” he added, encouraging the students to draw inspiration from Gandhiji’s principles and evolve into responsible citizens contributing positively to society. He urged faculty members to embrace his teachings and strive to provide exemplary educational services.
Earlier, Prof. Althaf, along with the Registrar and faculty members, paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s portrait and observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect.
