MEDARAM, JANUARY 30, 2026: As the world-renowned Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Maha Jatara draws to a close, it is witnessing an overwhelming surge of devotees, reaffirming its stature as one of the largest tribal religious congregations in the world. Rooted in deep faith and age-old traditions, the sacred gathering continues in a serene and well-organised manner amid lakhs of devotees arriving from across Telangana and other parts of the country.
The historic jatara, symbolising devotion to forest deities worshipped in their purest form, has transformed Medaram into a vibrant spiritual landscape. Devotees are offering traditional items such as turmeric, vermilion, jaggery, rice, and cloth as part of their sacred vows, reflecting the simplicity and cultural richness of this unique tribal festival.

Smooth Darshan Amid Heavy Rush
Despite unprecedented crowds, the darshan of Sammakka and Saralamma is progressing peacefully. Systematic queue management and crowd regulation have ensured smooth movement of devotees across the jatara premises. The atmosphere remains deeply devotional as pilgrims patiently await darshan and participate in rituals with reverence.

Efficient Crowd Management and Security
Anticipating heavy footfall, the State Government, district administration, and police have made elaborate arrangements for traffic regulation, queue supervision, and crowd safety mechanisms. At Jampanna Vagu, devotees are taking holy dips under vigilant supervision, adding to the spiritual fervour of the event.
Medical Teams and Volunteers on Alert
Medical teams have been deployed across the Jatara area to provide immediate healthcare assistance. Volunteers stationed along queue lines and key congregation points are offering continuous support to devotees. Special arrangements have been made to handle emergencies and ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims.
NSS Volunteers Extend Dedicated Service
Around 500 NSS volunteers from Kakatiya University, Warangal, are rendering dedicated service at the jatara. Their responsibilities include assisting devotees at the gaddelu (sacred platforms), guiding pilgrims in queue lines, managing crowd movement near Jampanna Vagu, and helping reunite misplaced devotees with their families.
