
HYDERABAD, DECEMBER 23, 2025: Jatothu Hussain, Member, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, interacts with top management of Geological Survey of India (GSI), Southern Region (SR) and Training Institute (TI) Headquarters, Hyderabad and representatives of ST Employees’ Welfare Association on Tuesday.
Mr Jatothu Hussain visited the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Southern Region Headquarters, Hyderabad. He received a warm reception upon arrival by Mr Basab Mukhopadhyay, ADG & HoD, GSI, SR along with Dr. S Ravi, DDG & HoD, GSI, TI, and other senior officers of GSI.
As part of the programme, Mr Jatothu paid floral tributes to the statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Floral tributes also paid to the portraits of eminent national leaders and tribal icons including Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Birsa Munda, and Kumaram Bheem, acknowledging their contributions towards nation-building and social reform. This is followed by participation in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive in the campus, symbolising environmental consciousness and social responsibility.
The member visited the William King Geological Museum and observed specimens of the various rocks, minerals, ores, metals and fossils. Later, he r interacted with Scheduled Tribe employees and office bearers of the SC/ST Employees Welfare Association at Khedkar Hall, where issues related to service conditions, welfare measures, and inclusive workplace practices were discussed. He emphasised the importance of equal opportunity, the dignity of labour, and adherence to constitutional values in government organisations.

Subsequently, the Hon’ble Member was felicitated by the GSI management. A detailed meeting was held with the management of GSI SR and GSITI, attended by all DDGs, Directors, Director & Liaison Officer (SC/ST), and representatives of the SC/ST Employees Welfare Association. The discussions focused on welfare schemes, grievance redressal mechanisms, representation of ST employees, and strengthening institutional support systems.
The visit concluded with a working lunch. The visit of the Hon’ble Member, NCST, reinforced GSI’s continued commitment towards social justice, employee welfare, inclusivity, and constitutional values, while providing a constructive platform for dialogue between the Commission, management, and employees.
