On this day, the Snapana Beram of Srivaru Ugra Srinivasa Murthy, will be paraded along the four mada streets before sunrise between 4.30 am and 5.45 am.
It is only on this day that this deity comes out of the temple. During other festivals and religious events, it is the Utsava Beram-Sri Malayappa Swamy who blesses His devotees.
Spiritual Significance
This religious event originates from the Kaisika Puranam, which contains 82 shlokas recited by Sri Varaha Swamy to His Sri Bhudevi.
Kaisika Dwadasi is closely associated with the story of Sri Nambaduvan, an ardent devotee. His devotion and honesty led to both his salvation and the redemption of a cursed demon whom he encountered on his way while worshipping Sri Maha Vishnu.(Sri Venkateswara is believed to be His incarnation in Kaliyuga)
Asthanam
On Kaisika Dwadasi, the idol of Sri Ugra Srinivasa, along with His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, is taken out for a procession only once a year at Tirumala, before sunrise.
This tradition began in the 14th century after an incident in which sunlight striking the idol reportedly caused a mega fire accident. Since then, the procession is strictly observed before daybreak.
Later Kaisika Dwadasi Asthanam is performed inside the temple.
