HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 08, 2025: The EFL University Administration denied permission for a “Palestine Solidarity March” planned by some students of the Campus yesterday from 6:00 pm. The University Administration cautioned students not to participate in such events on campus that are against national interests.
Contrary to the instructions, some students had gathered for a rally. The University officials – the Registrar, Proctor and Deputy Proctor talked to those students and expressed objection to the banner “EFLU is with Palestine” and to exhibiting Palestinian flags on the Campus. The officials tried to prevent them through dialogue and counselled them not to undertake the rally.
Defying the appeals of the officials, the students were determined to hold the rally, claiming that they did not need permission to do so. With no option left, the University Administration sought police help.
The situation grew tense at around 8.00 pm with counterarguments raging between the student groups. Since the student groups had a large presence, the two constables present at the point sought additional help to control the situation. With the police trying to prevent the rally, a scuffle ensued between the students and the police, but the situation was brought under control.
The EFL University administration views the whole incident seriously and condemns any violent activity which disrupts the peaceful academic atmosphere on the campus. An enquiry will be conducted into the whole incident, with relevant proceedings to be undertaken as per the Ordinances and Regulations of the university.
The University administration appeals to every section of the university community to maintain peace and harmony and ensures adequate support to the student community for pursuing their studies and achieve their career objectives. Let all of us strive to achieve the objectives embodied in the vision of The English and Foreign Languages University.
