
The garlands were first brought to Sri Pedda Jeeyar Mutt near Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy Temple in Tirumala, where special pujas were performed under the supervision of HH Sri Sri Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamy and HH Sri Sri Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy.
Later, amidst the playing of traditional mangala Vaidyams, the garlands were taken in a ceremonial procession along the four mada streets and carried into the Tirumala temple.
Two sets of garlands are called Andal or Sikkamani Malas.
The Andal garlands, also known as the Sikkamani malas, consist of two special flower garlands prepared and offered every year by two families of traditional florists from Srivilliputhur in Tamil Nadu, located about 650 km away from Tirupati.
The event was attended by Tamil Nadu Endowment Joint Commissioner Mariyappan, EO Chakkarai Ammal, Tirumala Temple Dy EO Lokanatham, Srivilliputhur temple Sthanacharya Ramesh Rangarajan, and others.
