KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 09, 2025: The Government Women’s Degree College (Autonomous), Karimnagar, organised an awareness programme on “Be a Life Saver – Organ and Body Donation” under the joint auspices of the College Health Club and Women Empowerment Cell, in collaboration with Sadaashaya Foundation (Organ Donation Welfare Society).
The programme was graced by speakers Mr. Shravan Kumar, Dr. Merugu Bhishmachari and Assistant Professor, Department of Anatomy, Government Medical College, Dr. Thodupunuri Bhavani, who enlightened the participants on the significance of organ donation. They explained who can donate eyes and organs, which organs can be donated, the process and necessity of body donation, and the procedure to enrol for eye, organ, and body donation membership.
The speakers also recalled the words of poet Kaloji, emphasising that “after death, the body and organs should not be buried in the soil but should serve the lives of ten people.”
The college principal Prof. D. Varalakshmi, Women Empowerment Cell Coordinator B. Rajani Devi, Health Club Coordinator Nazia Rehman, along with faculty members and students, actively participated in the programme.
