JAGTIAL, AUGUST 21, 2025: The NSS unit and Eco Club of Government Degree College for Women (autonomous), Jagtial, organised competitions for students to create eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols, aiming to educate them on the importance of environmental protection, on Thursday.
The workshop was both fun and educational. Students not only enjoyed creating idols but also learned the value of eco-friendly practices. They felt a sense of pride in crafting idols themselves with clay, turmeric, vegetables and other eco-friendly materials.
Participants became aware of the environmental issues caused by immersing POP idols, which harm aquatic life due to the use of chemical paints. They were encouraged to dissolve the clay idols in flower pots, buckets, water drums, or garden soil after performing the pujas. The students were presented with prizes too on the occasion.
College principal Prof K Ramakrishna, NSS programme officers N Sangeetha, Srilatha and Sujatha, faculty members Pramod Kumar, Chandraiah, Vasavi, Raheem, Neeraja, Sunitha, Jyoshna, Jamuna, Veena, Satyam, Mallikarjun, Naresh, Ramachandram and others were also present.
