
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, MARCH 31, 2025: Industrialist Anand Mahindra was all praise for IAS officer and former Rajanna-Sircilla district Collector D Krishna Bhaskar for his initiatives to increase the groundwater table by over six meters in the district during his tenure as the Collector from 2016 to 2020.
In his X post on ‘Monday-Motivation’ on March 31, 2025, Mr Mahindra praised the IAS officer for coming up with an innovative solution to India’s water woes. The Telangana State Young India Skill University Chairman stated that in a country whose economy is dependent on farming, depleting water resources is a major concern. “Given our involvement in the farm sector, we are all too aware of the challenge the country faces in restoring groundwater levels. So no praise can be enough for this astonishing achievement by D Krishna Bhaskar. He gives us hope that none of our problems are insurmountable. All it takes is single-minded determination,” wrote the industrialist.
Incidentally, Mr Krishna Bhaskar’s initiatives of transforming the drought-prone Rajanna-Sircilla district for recharging the groundwater table have now been studied as a model by the would-be IAS officers. Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie had included the Sircilla model as a syllabus for the IAS trainees.
Mr Krishna Bhaskar, who was worked as Collector of Rajanna-Sircilla district, took steps to avert crisis in the upland region by taking up water conservation initiatives, implementing a range of measure such as upgrading minor irrigation tanks, installing piped water systesms, acquiring land for reservoirs, desilting water storage bodies, excavating trenches and enhancing water storage capacity.
Mr Krishna Bhaskar, who is currently serving as Director, Industries, Government of Telangana, has received the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for two consecutive years, 2019 and 2020. In 2019, he was recognized for the effective execution of the Government of India’s Mission Indradhanush in Siddipet district, Telangana. The following year, in 2020, he earned the award for his efforts in enhancing public service delivery and grievance redressal mechanisms in Rajanna Sircilla district, Telangana.
Mr Krishna Bhaskar worked in the integrated Karimnagar district. When he was Jagtial sub-Collector, he designed an app during the Godavari pushakarulu. He also won accolades for his administration when he worked as the MCK Commissioner in Karimnagar town.
