

RAJANNA-SIRCILLA, FEBRUARY 28, 2025: Students of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Women’s Degree College in Shatrajupalli, Vemulawada, Rajanna-Sircilla district, celebrated National Science Day with great enthusiasm on Friday. As part of the event, the Microbiology and Botany departments hosted an engaging webinar on “Bacterial Diversity for Environmental Management.”
The session was led by Professor Ch Sashikala, Director of JNTUH IIST, who spoke about the growing environmental challenges we face today. She highlighted the crucial role of microorganisms, especially bacteria, in maintaining ecological balance and how they can be used to manage environmental issues effectively.
Adding to the excitement, students put together a Science Fair and a Poster Exhibition, showcasing their creativity and scientific curiosity. The event saw the active participation of Principal K Lavanya, Vice Principal B Sumalatha, Microbiology Head G Swapna, Botany Head R Deepthi, faculty members Ayesha Fathima and Soniya and all science departments and students, making it a memorable and inspiring day for all.
National Science Day is celebrated in India to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by physicist C.V. Raman on February 28, 1928. India has been celebrating National Science Day since 1986, when the Government of India decided to commemorate the announcement of the discovery of the Raman Effect and to encourage the development of a scientific mindset in the country.
The theme for National Science Day 2025 is “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science & Innovation for Viksit Bharat.” It emphasizes the role of young minds in driving India’s scientific and technological progress, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, which aims for a developed and self-reliant India.
