HYDERABAD, FEBRUARY 05, 2025: As part of the United Nations International Year of Cooperatives -2025, the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) in association with the Centre for International Cooperation and Training in Agriculture and Banking (CICTAB) is conducting a four-day workshop for CEOs and senior executives of cooperatives and rural financing from across country and Nepal on ‘Cooperative Governance’ in Hyderabad from February 4 to 7, 2025.
The workshop is being organised by NCUI, with the support of NAFSCOB, the state cooperative department, and state cooperative union and TSCAB. NAFSCOB Chairman Konduru Ravinder Rao was the chief guest and NCUI deputy CEO Savithri Singh, State Cooperative Union MD Annapurna, Mahesh Cooperative Bank chairman Ramesh Kumar Bung, TSCAB Chief General Manager Jyothi and others participated in the programme. As part of the workshop, the CEOs and senior executives would visit TSCAB, a DCCB and a PACS to see the results of cooperative governance.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ravinder Rao said that the Telangana state was in the forefront of the cooperative government by implementing several reforms for over a decade and emerged as a role model in the country. Stating that the programme was being organised as part of the International Year of Cooperatives, he said that the cooperatives are still relevant to serve the rural and lower strata of society and contribute to the GDP of the state and nation.
Crediting Union Home Minister Amit Shah for revitalizing the cooperative movement in India through the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation in 2021, he said that Mr Amit Shah had already chalked out year-long programmes in the cooperatives as part of the IYC-2025. The speakers also stressed on the need to conduct year-long programmes to encourage the cooperatives and formulate future policies.
