Demand is growing appealing to the government to declare Circus grounds and Old High School grounds as free parks for the benefit of the people of Karimnagar
Presently, Circus Ground is charging Rs 10 per day for a person for entry into park and another Rs 10 for vehicle parking
Circus Grounds and Old High School Grounds do not belong to MCK and it has no right to collect fees for entry into the premises
KARIMNAGAR, DECEMBER 23, 2024: With the completion of the Government Old High School Grounds into the recreational park by the Municipal authorities as part of the Smart City project, the MIM Karimnagar town unit has urged the district administration to name the recreational park in memory of former President and Missile man of India APJ Abdul Kalaam.
Accordingly, the MIM leaders led by Municipal co-option member Rafia Sultana and others submitted a memorandum to the Municipal Commissioner Chahat Bajpai during the weekly ‘Prajavani’ programme (public grievances redressal) in Karimnagar town on Monday. The MIM leaders reminded that Mr Kalaam was an inspiration to the entire nation and naming the park in his memory would be apt tribute to the great leader of the country.
On the other hand, the demand is growing to declare both the Circus Grounds and the Multipurpose School (Old High School) parks as free parks for the benefit of the people to walk on the park premises without any payments. Presently, the MCK is collecting Rs 10 per day from a person for walking and Rs 10 as vehicle parking fee at the Circus grounds.
The Lok Satta udyama samstha leader KS Narayana said that the Circus grounds or the Multi-purpose grounds do not belong to the MCK and it was the property belonged to the government junior college and old high school. The MCK had forcibly snatched away the precious open spaces of the Old high school and doing business by converting it into paid parks and denying the recreational facilities to the poor people, he charged.
Reminding that the Old high school was the first school in the integrated Karimnagar district constructed by the Nizam rulers in the year 1934, Mr Narayana said that the MCK destroyed the ancient heritage structure in the name of conversion of the open land into recreational purposes. He demanded that the government should take measures to ensure that both the Circus grounds and Old High School grounds are declared as free parks for the benefit of the people of the town.
