CHENNAI, SEPTEMBER 27, 2024: The Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Limited, Regional Office Chennai organised a Plantation drive at St Christopher’s College of Education, Vepery, as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign on Friday.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from approximately 70-75 members, including employees and staff from the NLCIL/RO Chennai office, Professors, Teachers and students from St. Christopher’s College and Bentinck Hr Sec School.
Mr Prabhu Kishore Executive Director (CRM), presided over the event along with Dr T G Srinivvasan, Health Education Officer and Nodal Officer SBM Chennai City, Dr Nithila Devakarunyam, Principal and Secretary, Mrs Parimala Paul, Vice Principal, Mrs Marian Usha, Headmistress.
This collaborative effort underscored a shared commitment to advancing the nation’s objectives of cleanliness and environmental sustainability. During the drive, more than 100 saplings were planted across the college grounds, contributing to a greener and cleaner future. Additionally, Swachhata Hi Seva awareness banners were displayed, further promoting the message of cleanliness and environmental responsibility among participants and the community.
Plantation drives like these play a vital role in combating climate change, enhancing biodiversity, and improving air quality. This initiative went beyond merely planting trees; it aimed to raise awareness about environmental stewardship and the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations.
