Students don the role of teachers as part of self-governance day
HYDERABAD, SEPTEMBER 05, 2024: To acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of teachers, and students of The Play School and Sister Nivedita School, Ameerpet, Hyderabad, celebrated the Teachers’ Day with lots of enthusiasm and devotion to commemorate the birth anniversary of former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan on Thursday.
Celebrations were launched with the lighting of the lamp and offering floral tributes to the portrait of the Second President of the country Dr Radhakrishnan by Principal Dr T Lalitha Kumari and Correspondent Rtn Hari Hara Prasad. On this occasion, they informed the students that Dr Radhakrishnan was a great academician and philosopher. Above, he was a teacher and played a crucial role during the freedom struggle, they stated.
The students presented several programmes to showcase their talent in the form of a song and dance to denote their love, respect, acknowledgement, and recognition of the hard work the teachers put in toward their development. ‘Thank you’ cards were also given to the teachers which brought ‘tears of joy’ to the teachers.
One of the distinctive features of the Teachers Day celebration is the role reversal that occurs. Students from high school and secondary school step into the shoes of their teachers, taking on teaching responsibilities for the day. They dressed up like their teachers and took on the responsibility of teaching their juniors. Little ones of Pre-Primary looked at these new teachers with wonder in their eyes and made a strong bond of affection with them in no time.
Senior Bhaiyas and Didis played with them, heard their stories, sang, and helped them complete their work. This not only offers teachers a much-needed respite but also grants students valuable insight into the intricacies and gratifications of the teaching vocation. This exercise fosters empathy and a deeper understanding of the dedication required to educate and nurture young minds.
Principal, Dr. T. Lalitha Kumari greeted the teachers and reminded the students of the tireless labour and love all the teachers put in to bring them up as knowledgeable and compassionate individuals. It was a remarkable day for all the little Niveditans with many unforgettable moments.
The Chairman of the school Dr. Sudhakar Rao Polsani and the Correspondent of the school, Rtn. Hari Hara Prasad also extended their wishes and congratulated the teachers and acknowledged the sincere efforts of every teacher for the painstaking effort they selflessly put in every day.
In essence, the Teachers Day celebration embodies the spirit of unity, respect, and gratitude. This day serves as a reminder that teachers are not just disseminators of knowledge but mentors who leave an indelible mark on the lives of their students.
