NEW DELHI, JULY 03, 2024: Veteran politician and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao has rejoined the Congress party in the presence of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy and others in New Delhi on Wednesday. AICC General Secretary K.C Venugopal and in-charge for Telangana Deepadas Munshi were also present.
Mr Kesava Rao, who was associated with the Congress for almost five decades, had quit the party and joined the TRS (now BRS) in 2013 over the delay in the announcement of Telangana state. Incidentally, the BRS party had given due recognition to the senior politician by making him politburo member. He was made Rajya Sabha member twice by the BRS party.
However, now Mr Kesava Rao is planning to resign to the Rajya Sabha member post. After his resignation, the Congress party is planning to renominate him to the Rajya Sabha. It may be recalled his daughter and GHMC Mayor Vijayalakshmi had already quit BRS and joined the Congress party. Mr Kesava Rao also worked as APCC president from 2005m to 2008.
