BRS Karimnagar district leaders flays Jagtial legislator and stage protests
JAGTIAL, JUNE 24, 2024: Unusual developments are taking place in the Jagtial district following the induction of Jagtial BRS legislator Dr M Sanjay Kumar into the Congress party by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday night.
Internal bickering had come to the fore in the district with the Congress senior leader and MLC T Jeevan Reddy threatening to resign to the post and lead a simple normal life as a farmer. Following the news, Government Whips Adluri Laxman Kumar and Adi Srinivas rushed to the residence of Jeevan Reddy and trying to pacify the senior Congress leader and not to take any hasty decision.
Sources said that Mr Jeevan Reddy was sulking over induction of his arch rival in the elections from 2014 elections onwards into the party without even consulting him. However, the party high command had also prevailed upon the importance of induction of Dr Sanjay Kumar into the party as he was the grandson of senior-most Congress leader and former MP district Juvvadi Chokka Rao.
On the other hand, Congress Kisan Cell state coordinator Vakati Satyam Reddy resigned from his post and decided to continue as an ordinary party worker. In his letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Satyam Reddy said it was not proper on the party of Mr Revanth Reddy to induct the BRS legislator into the party without informing senior Congress leader Jeevan Reddy, who supported the party in difficult times. It may be recalled that Dr Sanjay Kumar had defeated Jeevan Reddy twice from the Jagtial assembly segment in 2018 and 2023 elections.
The BRS Karimnagar district unit leaders have staged a dharna at Indira chowk in Karimnagar town on Monday in protest against Jagtial legislator Sanjay Kumar, who joined the Congress party on Sunday. The BRS activists led by its district president GV Ramakrishna Rao and staged a protest and raised slogans against Sanjay Kumar for betraying the BRS, which had given him political life. They tried to burn the effigy of the Jagtial legislator, however, the police foiled their attempts.
