
KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 01, 2025: The Telangana Government College Teachers’ Association (TGCTA), Karimnagar Unit, staged a protest on Monday during the lunch hour at SRR Government Arts and Science College, Karimnagar, demanding the abolition of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Wearing black dresses and black badges, the teachers expressed their resentment against CPS. Faculty members, staff, and other beneficiaries of OPS also participated in the protest and extended their solidarity.
Speaking on the occasion, TGCTA Karimnagar President Harjoth Kaur emphasised that the Old Pension Scheme is the rightful entitlement of government employees, ensuring their financial security post-retirement. He urged the government to address this long-standing demand at the earliest.
Malla Reddy, addressing the gathering, pointed out that although the government has collected data from employees for OPS, it has not yet been implemented, which is causing serious concern among teachers and staff.
Among those who took part were P. Rajesh, Prabhakar, Arjun, Naresh, Chandrashekhar, Satheesh Kumar, Malla Reddy, Padala Tirupati, Venu, Krishnareddy, Srinivas, Ramakrishna, Rajesham and several others.
The protest highlighted the collective voice of teachers and employees, reaffirming their commitment to continue the movement until OPS is restored.

Similarly, the Satavahana University non-teaching employees association members have staged a dharna on the premises of the University, demanding implementation of the Old pension scheme. Association president Y Kishore, General secretary Prasad, superintendent Bheemaiah, Rajeshwari, Santosh, Yojana, Madhuri, Kishan, Fasiuddin, Narsaiah and others were also present.
