JAGTIAL, MARCH 31, 2026: The valedictory function of the two-day Academic Empowerment Programme on “Orientation on NGOs and Development Sector” was held with great enthusiasm and academic spirit at SKNR Government Arts & Science College, Jagtial, on Tuesday.
The programme was organised as part of the prestigious 100 Days Academic Initiatives taken up by Satavahana University and aimed at strengthening students’ academic exposure, social awareness, and career readiness in the development sector.
The programme was presided over by the Principal, Prof. A. Ashok, who served as the Chairman of the valedictory session. In his address, he highlighted the vital role of educational institutions in shaping socially responsible citizens. He urged students to step beyond classroom learning and actively engage with society, particularly focusing on serving the underprivileged and marginalised communities. He emphasised that true education is reflected in service to humanity and encouraged students to develop empathy, leadership qualities, and a commitment to social welfare.

The Chief Guest, Prof. S. Sujatha from Satavahana University, delivered an inspiring and thought-provoking address. She stressed the importance of acquiring global competencies in today’s competitive world. She encouraged students to equip themselves with modern skills, communication abilities, and interdisciplinary knowledge to access global opportunities. She advised them to “learn locally and serve globally,” emphasising that students should use their education not only for personal growth but also for societal transformation.
The Guest of Honour, Assistant Professor T. Sridhar, Head of the Department of Social Work, Osmania University, addressed the gathering with a strong message on the importance of understanding real-world challenges. He encouraged students to focus equally on academic excellence and field-based learning. Highlighting rural development issues, he urged students to study rural problems such as poverty, unemployment, lack of education, and health challenges, and to work towards sustainable solutions. He emphasized that dedicated youth, with determination and hard work, can bring about significant changes and reshape the future of the nation.
The programme provided a valuable platform for students to gain insights into the functioning of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), their role in national development, and the opportunities available in the social sector. Over the two days, students actively participated in various sessions, discussions, and interactive activities that enhanced their understanding of development practices and community engagement.
The programme was effectively coordinated by Prof. A. Srinivas, who played a key role in planning and execution. The success of the event was made possible through the collective efforts of faculty members including K. Srinivas, NCC Officer P. Raju, G.V.R. Sai Madhukar, Andaman Govardhan, Librarian K. Surender, Kavita, Supriya, Divya, Rajitha, Gattaiah, Mahesh, Swaruparani, Naresh, and others.
Students from various Government Degree Colleges participated enthusiastically in the programme. NCC cadets, assistant volunteers, and non-teaching staff extended their full support in organizing and conducting the event smoothly. The active involvement and vibrant participation of students added great value to the programme.
The valedictory session concluded on an inspiring note, with a collective call to students to become proactive, socially conscious individuals. The speakers encouraged them to channel their knowledge, skills, and energy towards nation-building and community service, reaffirming the role of youth as catalysts of positive change in society.
