
HYDERABAD, JULY 13, 2025: A ten-day Thematic Exhibition showcasing India’s rich handicraft heritage was inaugurated at Uppal Mini Shilparamam, Hyderabad, on Saturday evening.
The opening ceremony was graced by Shruthi Patil, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication; Suvarchala, Assistant Director, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India; G. Kishan Rao, Special Officer, Shilparamam; Dosada Krishna Chari Gari, National Awardee in Silver Filigree Art; and Vijaya Sagar, Assistant Director, Andhra Pradesh Productivity Council (APPC).
The exhibition showcases a diverse range of handicrafts, including Kondapalli toys, Narsapur lace, Cheriyal scroll paintings, Savara tribal art, palm leaf crafts, bobbin lace, and more. Artisans participating in the exhibition are beneficiaries of various government schemes and training programs designed to enhance their skills and improve their livelihoods.
Shruthi Patil visited all the stalls, interacted with artisans, and appreciated their craftsmanship. She emphasised the importance of supporting and encouraging artisans to sustain traditional arts and crafts. “These crafts represent the cultural soul of our nation. It is our collective responsibility to promote and preserve them,” she remarked.
As part of the inaugural day’s cultural events, a Kuchipudi dance performance by the disciples of Guru Pavani Srilatha captivated the audience.
The exhibition is open to the public and offers a unique opportunity to experience and purchase authentic handmade crafts directly from the artisans.
