HYDERABAD, JUNE 15, 2025: In a significant and historic milestone for the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), V Saritha has joined as the first woman driver towards gender inclusivity in the state’s public transport sector.
Saritha, a native of Satya Thanda in Samasthan Narayanpur mandal of Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri mandal, has joined the TGSRTC as a driver of an electric bus (JBM) at the Miryalguda depot on Saturday. She will be operating on the Hyderabad-Miryalguda route, one of the key corridors for intercity electric bus services.
With over a decade of experience behind the wheel, Saritha brings with her 10 years of professional driving experience from the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). Her appointment is being hailed as a proud moment not only for TSRTC but also for women across the state, aspiring to break into traditionally male-dominated professions.
It may be recalled that Saritha had urged Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy to provide an opportunity to work as a driver in TGSRTC, as she has to take care of her aged parents. The Ministers responded positively and provided an opportunity to become the first woman driver in the TGSRTC.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also congratulated Saritha for her achievement and becoming the first woman drive in the TGSRTC and inspiring several other womenfolk in the state. He said that the womenfolk were excelling in all the fields, along with taking care of their domestic responsibilities in the social service and women empowerment activities.
