
KARIMNAGAR, OCTOBER 10, 2025: The Government Degree College for Women, Karimnagar (Autonomous) is organising a special event titled “Eco Bazaar – Swadeshi Deepavali” on the college campus to promote indigenous and eco-friendly products, said Principal Prof. D. Varalaxmi, here on Friday.
In a press release here, Varalaxmi stated, “This initiative aims to encourage the use of indigenous and environment-friendly products and to promote the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’ among students and the public. We invite people, companies, NGOs, start-ups, women’s organisations, self-help groups, and young entrepreneurs to set up their stalls and showcase their eco-friendly and Swadeshi products,” she said.
The Eco Bazaar will feature a wide range of eco-friendly innovations and healthy products. Food Products: Millet-based foods, multigrain flours, palm jaggery products, organic honey, ragi and jowar snacks, traditional sweets and pickles prepared by rural women, and other nutritious indigenous food items.
Deepavali Items: Clay lamps (diyas), decorative materials made from recycled items, natural-coloured rangoli powders, eco-friendly candles made from soy and coconut wax, organic flower garlands, and clay idols of Lord Ganesha.
Handicrafts & Other Products: Jute bags, bamboo articles, palm-leaf handicrafts, cotton toys, natural soaps, herbal cosmetics, recycled paper products, cotton and cloth bags, and plastic-free household items.
The event will also include participation from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), women entrepreneurs, and rural start-up units, thereby promoting rural economic empowerment and self-reliance.
Prof. D. Varalaxmi further added, “Such initiatives help students develop environmental awareness and respect for indigenous products. Let us celebrate this Deepavali in an eco-friendly and Swadeshi way.”
