HYDERABAD, OCTOBER 13, 2024: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar has alleged that the Congress government has raised the issue of caste census survey only to delay the local bodies elections in the Telangana state.
He also reminded that the BRS government had also conducted a comprehensive family survey by creating much hype and still the report remains an illusion for the general public.
Mr Bandi Sanjay Kumar was speaking to the media after attending the ‘Alai Balai’ event held at Nampally Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad on Sunday. He alleged that the Congress government had purposefully raised the caste census issue as the government had failed to fulfil its six guarantees and was scared of losing the ensuing local bodies elections.
“The state’s approach to the caste census is wicked. They are not doing it with sincerity. They are delaying local body elections and behaving evasively. The previous BRS government had collected all details, including caste data, in the comprehensive family survey. They even brought back Telangana people working abroad to be included in that survey. Where is the report of that comprehensive family survey? What’s in it? Why didn’t the BRS reveal it? Why isn’t the Congress government making it public either? What is the secret deal between Congress and BRS? Are they not revealing it as part of that secret deal? What are the flaws in the Samagra Kutumba Survey(SKS) report? What benefits came from that survey?, he asked.
If that report exists, why are they allocating ₹150 crore for a new caste census survey with a 60-day deadline? Did the caste of Telangana people change between the SKS report and now? Then, what is this drama for? The actions of Congress leaders make the caste census seem like a fake exercise. Congress leaders fear they will lose the local body elections. People are strongly opposing Congress. Knowing that they are being questioned about the six guarantees, they are diverting attention with this time pass in the name of the caste census. If the Congress government has any sincerity, they should release the report of the comprehensive family survey conducted by the previous government.”
Earlier, during the ‘Alai Balai’ event, Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay said: “When we think of Dattatreya, Holi and the ‘Alai Balai’ programmes come to our mind. When Dattatreya plays Holi, the colour lasts for three months. The leaders of all parties, apart from politics, attended and remembered the culture and traditions of Telangana in the name of ‘Alai Balai’. It is a great thing to organize Alai Balai so that future generations do not forget our Telangana culture and Hindu culture. It was a pleasure to attend this event. We want everyone to come together and be part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to build a strong society.
