KARIMNAGAR, SEPTEMBER 16, 2025: Students of Zilla Parishad High School, Mallapur, Thimmapur mandal, organised a novel rally carrying umbrellas to highlight the importance of protecting the environment from pollution and the ozone layer on the occasion of World Ozone Day on Tuesday.
The colourful umbrellas carried by the students, along with placards displaying slogans, drew the attention of the villagers. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Headmistress Puram Uma Rani, with coordination from Biological Science Teacher V. Satyanarayana and Paryavarana Mitra Teacher Mohammed Shareef Ahmed. Teachers E. Chakradhar, Syed Shafiq, D. Srinivas Reddy, K. Lalitha and several students actively participated in the rally.
Students’ Slogans Steal the Show
Carrying placards with slogans such as “Save Ozone – Save Earth” and “Our Future is in Our Hands”, the students conveyed the importance of environmental protection to the villagers. They emphasised that simple actions like planting trees, reducing plastic usage, and limiting vehicle emissions can bring significant positive changes.
A Collective Responsibility
Headmistress Uma Rani appreciated the initiative of the students and teachers. She stated, “Protecting the ozone layer is not the responsibility of an individual alone, but a duty of the entire society. Everyone must adopt eco-friendly practices.”
A Movement for Awareness
Biological Science Teacher V. Satyanarayana remarked that World Ozone Day should not be viewed as a one-day event but as a movement for continuous awareness. “The ozone layer shields us from harmful UV rays. Safeguarding it is essential for the well-being of future generations,” he said.
Safeguarding the Shield
Paryavaran Mitra Teacher Mohammed Shareef Ahmed highlighted that industrialization and pollution are weakening the ozone layer. He urged, “We must reduce the use of harmful chemicals like CFCs and HCFCs. By planting trees and adopting eco-friendly lifestyles, we can protect our planet for a healthier tomorrow.”
Villagers’ Response
The rally received enthusiastic support from the local villagers, who appreciated the students’ slogans and teachers’ messages. The event served as a reminder that environmental protection is a shared responsibility requiring active participation from every individual.
